Our first computer was a very basic Atari purchased way back in the mid sixties, and our fascination with computers has grown ever since.
Here's just a little information about how we got involved in web design and
implementation. On taking a position as general manager of a San Antonio based English
saddlery in 2000, it was decided that the business was in need of a full featured website.
The store's customer base was growing at a smaller rate, we were losing sales to on-line
retailers, and increased competition in the demographic area was eroding away at gross
sales.
When we turned to web developers for a solution, it quickly
became obvious that costs for the full featured website we envisioned for the business
would be in excess of $3,500.00, and would require periodic updates incurring additional
charges. The most viable option seemed to be building the site ourselves. We started this
project by purchasing Front Page 98 on E-Bay for the sum of $75.00. Had we known just how
long it would take to master that outdated program, and how many more resources we would
need to complete the project, we might have given up right then and there. Years
later, after climbing that very steep learning curve, that first website was #1 on
many search engines for various keywords, we shipped products worldwide, and our on-line
store made a significant contribution to the bottom line each year. Sadly, the owner closed the doors on that business in October of 2007.
Customers of that store and friends became our first clients
for site construction. We here at "Site Me Up" enjoy the challenge of
constructing and promoting a new website for our clients. It is always a thrill when that
first retail sale is made, or increased traffic bears fruit in the form of restaurant
reservations, for example. |
