Roberta's
Dive ECO-Cozumel is located on the waterfront next to Ernesto's Fajita Factory, just a
short cab ride from downtown. They offer fast dive boats accomodating up to six divers,
with a captain and divemaster. Roberta's divemasters are all long-time employees - each
and every one is knowledgeable, friendly, and bi-lingual. Small and fast dive boats are by
far the best way to dive Cozumel. Roberta's Dive-Eco Cozumel, Blue Bubble Divers, Scuba
Shack, and Village Tan Kah are all facets of the same business.
Village Tan Kah is the small hotel which is part of the same operation,
and is located just across the street. Guest rooms are air conditioned and each has it's
own unique ambience. A Continental breakfast is served each morning on the patio. There is
a small swimming pool that's perfect for a relaxing afternoon swim and a cold drink, or
just for a quick freshwater rinse after diving.
Cozumel is one of the premier dive locations in the world. It is located
just a few miles from the mainland at Playa del Carmen in the Mexican state of Quintana
Roo. You can fly into Cancun, and take a high speed ferry to Cozumel, or hop a short
flight directly from the airport in Cancun. We prefer to fly direct from Texas, using
either Continental Airlines or FunJet Vacation charter flights. FunJet operates only a few
months a year, but you can save a substantial amount by booking thru them when they offer
flights to fit your schedule.
Part of what makes Cozumel such an outstanding dive destination are the
strong currents which sweep the reefs, bringing nutrients and assuring excellent
visiblity. It's a good idea to complete your "Open Water" dive training before
you come. There are many dive operations on the island which offer "Discover
Scuba" and certification programs, but having mastered the basic skills beforehand,
such as bouyancy control, will make your vacation that much more enjoyable. On the small
six passenger boats we prefer, most of the divers you'll encounter will be experienced.
Your divemaster will assess your skills, and will have guidelines for you to follow to
make your diving experience in Cozumel safe and enjoyable.
